Experience
I'm a fourth-year undergraduate student at Southern Methodist University, pursuing my bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in Spanish. As far as my tutoring skills are concerned, I'm adept at helping students with subjects that include geometry, pre-algebra, algebra, macroeconomics, and Spanish. In the summer of 2014, I resided in Madrid with a Spanish family and took courses there as part of the advanced Spanish program offered through Southern Methodist University. When it comes to my philosophy about tutoring, I can tap into my own personal experience using tutors. I believe in the power of practice and repetition to improve a student's skills and performance. My lesson plans echo this philosophy in that they underline the strategy for students to take what they've absorbed through tutoring sessions or classroom learning, and apply it on their own. Practicing is the key - whether it's vocabulary, grammar, questions, or problems. My role is to help guide students on their quest to cultivate more knowledge and boost their learning abilities. I hope to inspire so my students get the most out of their tutoring sessions. When I'm not studying or mentoring, I like to watch and play sports, cook, travel, read, and practice yoga. I currently reside in Darien, Connecticut.
